Katie is the people-centred yogi behind Kokomo. She has worked across various industries (mining, corporate, health and fitness) across Australia, UK and Bali. Throughout her professional journey, Katie thrives on different experiences, perspectives and collaborative approaches. She's celebrated for her infectious energy, genuine personality and the lighthearted humour she effortlessly sprinkles into her interactions.

In 2012, seeking a better work-life balance, new ways to manage mental and physical health Katie volunteered at her local surf life-saving club, discovering the power of community and connection. This led her to competitive surf boat rowing, earning a silver medal at the 2014 World Surf Life Saving Championships in France. Yoga became a powerful injury management tool and inspired her to become a certified yoga teacher in 2016.

Katie didn't really follow the typical yoga teacher stereotype and in 2017, after immersing herself in various retreats, teaching styles, ashrams, surf and dive camps and wellness modalities in Bali, Katie felt compelled to create a different kind of retreat experience.

Her aim was to cater to the everyday Joe and Jane, providing fun and meaningful escapes. Fuelled by her love for bringing people together and outdoor adventures, Katie is dedicated to crafting unique retreats centred around mind, movement, balance and connection. Her mission is to inspire growth and empower individuals with a fresh perspective on life and Retreat Differently.

Her teaching style focuses on strong, mindful movement integrated with the power of the breath. Her positive energy and warm personality create an empowering space for students of all levels to explore their practice, push their boundaries, and respect their limitations. She believes the breath is a base for our overall well-being not only creating the connection with ourselves and what we're doing but also assisting with our physical performance. Whether it's on or off the mat, it can be applied to any form of movement or sport.

The name Kokomo came from her favourite Karaoke song which it was later discovered means "a place of relaxation next to the ocean".
